Welcome to your 2.0 Coach Training! On this page, you will find everything you need to prepare for class and join the class meetings each week. Below, you will find a week-by-week breakdown of how to be prepared for class, as well as what is due. On the right are additional links and resources that will be useful throughout your training, including; pdf versions of all texts, links to bonus materials, the class YouTube playlist, a class directory, materials for Coach Training EDU & ICF certification, and a variety of ways to stay connected to the Coach Training EDU community. Week 1: Coaching Mindset and Model (4/4/17)

This first class meeting will highlight the Learn-Be-Do Model of Coaching and Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset.

Week 2: Positive Psychology and Life Coaching Defined (3/8/2017)

This week we will discuss the history and definitions of Positive Psychology and Life Coaching, as well as review the 7 classic elements of a coaching session.

Week 4: The Power of Pause (3/22/2017)

This week we will discuss Daniel Kahneman’s Thinking Fast and Slow and learn about the importance of just being.

Week 5: Professional Level Coaching (3/29/2017)

This week is all about the ICF’s guidelines and the 11 coaching competencies they look for in their professional coaching standards.

Your first overview is due next week! Make sure you schedule an appointment with your trainer and have at least 15 minutes of coaching recorded.

Week 6: Coaching Review (4/5/2017)

During class, you will provide and receive feedback based on the 11 core competencies during your practice sessions.

Your 1st coach-client overview, 15 minutes of pre-recorded coaching reviewed for 30 minutes with your trainer, is due by class time.

Week 7: Acknowledgement and Championing (4/12/2017)

During this class meeting, we will discuss the importance of acknowledgement and championing in coaching sessions.

Week 8: Making Distinctions (4/19/2017)

During this class meeting, we will cover three valuable coaching tools: Making Distinctions, Bird’s Eye View, and Bottom Lining.

Week 9: Vision (4/26/2017)

This week, we will discuss how to help your clients create a vision for their future and ways to challenge them to think bigger and more in-depth.

Week 12: Reflecting and Reminders (5/17/2017)

During class this week, we will discuss a coaching exercise called Setting Reminders, a valuable tool for helping your client remember important mindsets, visions, and perspectives.

This week, we will discuss the impact of assumptions and limiting beliefs in clients’ lives and learn two techniques for addressing them.

Week 18: Inner Critic (6/28/2017)

This week, we will learn how to go through the Inner Critic exercise and create meaningful action steps from the coaching session.

This week, we will discuss the importance of relationships for your clients’ success, as well as learn how to present the Powerful Relationships exercise.

During class this week, we will discuss the importance of helping your clients discover their passions and how Core Motivation relates to leadership styles.

This week, we will discuss tools for helping your clients develop mission statements and leadership projects that align with their passions and values.

Your final overview and exam are both due by next week! Please be sure to schedule your appointment with your trainer and complete the exam before next week’s class!

Week 24: Completion (8/9/2017)

During our final class meeting, we will conclude the training program with some reflection and discussion about your training experience.

What’s Due?:

Your 4th and final coach-client overview, at least 30 minutes of pre-recorded coaching reviewed for 60 minutes with your trainer, is due by class time.

You must also have completed your final exam before the start of class.
