Graduation Requirements

A 1.0 life coaching course is 26 weeks long, including bonus orientation and introduction classes. It’s important to note that 24 of the 26 scheduled classes are filled with content that directly impacts your success as a coach.

A 2.0 life coaching course is 25 weeks, including a bonus orientation class. Similar to the 1.0 class, 24 of the 25 scheduled classes are filled with content that will benefit your coaching skill set.

Attendance Requirements

To complete the attendance requirements for these courses, coaches-in-training must attend 22 of the 24 core training sessions.

If you miss more than two classes, you will need to make up the needed hours outside of class which can be done in one of two ways:

  • Watch the class recording of the session you missed, and submit three takeaways from the training session. Then attend a Power Hour to practice coaching and let your trainers know.
  • Watch the class recording of the session you missed, and submit three takeaways from the training session. Then schedule and complete a 40-minute coaching session with a fellow class member and let your trainers know.

Sessions 1 through 8 are essential for building a strong foundation in coaching skills that you’ll use in every coaching session. We’ve noticed that missing any of these sessions can create gaps in your coaching abilities. To help bridge these gaps, we now recommend watching the recording and practicing with a classmate if you miss any session between 1 through 8.

After session 8, the sessions cover more advanced coaching skills. If you do need to miss a week, we encourage you to watch the video and reach out to a classmate for a practice coaching session.

It’s also important to mention that the International Coaching Federation has specific attendance requirements. If you anticipate missing more than four sessions within a 26-week period, please don’t hesitate to let your trainer or our HQ support team know. We’re here to support you through this journey.

Assessment Requirements

Assessments are structured evaluations in coaching training programs where coaches review and assess their recorded coaching sessions with a Coach Mentor. They are the primary method of assessing a new coach’s progress in the training program. Find additional information on the assessment process here.

To pass a 1.0 class, complete all three assessments, and earn a “Meets Standard | Associate Level” in each of the standards.

To pass a 2.0 class, complete all three assessments, and earn a “Meets Standard | Professional Level” in each of the standards.

Group Mentor Coaching Course

The final component to graduating from the 1.0 Life Coaching program is to complete a Group Mentor Coaching Course. This is a 9-week course, featuring an Orientation bonus session, with 8 training sessions to follow weekly.

During this course, you will present a pre-recorded coaching session to your classmates, and receive feedback on a pre-chosen Essential Coach Quality. Due to the International Coach Federation’s specific attendance requirements, only one absence is allowed per Group Mentor Coaching course.

For attendance makeup policies, please review your GMC syllabus on your Coach Portal dashboard.

Meeting and completing these expectations is vital to graduating from any of our training courses or programs.
