Alaa K. Ismail

Dr Alaa K. is an assistant professor of environmental engineering at Alexandria University. She has more than 15 years of experience in higher education, research, teaching, and students’ development. She earned her B.Sc. in civil engineering, as well as her master’s and doctorate in public health sciences in environmental engineering, all from Alexandria University.

Her academic expertise includes environmental impact assessment, water and wastewater treatment, sustainable development, and environmental research. She has supervised master’s and doctoral students, published research in leading international journals, and supported students and researchers through academic and professional challenges.

In addition to her academic work, she has become interested in coaching and mentoring, as many students and colleagues have sought her advice on academic stress and motivation. She recently gained coaching experience with CTEDU, practiced coaching clients, and is now working with her first professional coaching client, a researcher.

Her interest in coaching comes from her own experiences. After finishing her master’s degree and managing family responsibilities, she experienced burnout, low motivation, and a lack of guidance. She wished she had had support during those times, which led her to help others facing similar challenges.
She believes that many students and researchers struggle not because they lack ability, but because they feel overwhelmed, doubt themselves, or face burnout and uncertainty. Through coaching, she wants to help high school and university students, as well as graduate researchers, build confidence, resilience, and clear, sustainable paths to success.
