The ICF requires completing an ICF-accredited program, adhering to the ICF code of ethics, and demonstrating competency across coaching domains. Completing CTEDU training puts your education in line with the highest professional standards and counts toward your ACC, PCC, or MCC credential.

Most graduates earn their ACC credential within 12–18 months. That includes completing the training (about 6 months), logging 100+ coaching hours, and passing the credentialing exam. The PCC pathway takes longer due to the 500+ coaching-hour requirement.

A certificate is awarded by a training organization (like CTEDU) when you finish a program. A credential (ACC, PCC, MCC) is awarded by the ICF after you meet their education, experience, and evaluation requirements. CTEDU programs prepare you for both.

Coaching isn’t a licensed profession in most places, so certification is technically optional. That said, ICF certification is the industry standard, and it’s increasingly required by employers, organizations, and clients who want assurance of professional training.
