Dr. Danny McGuire served over 20 years in law enforcement transitioning to higher education after he suffered a career ending injury. After his injury and subsequent retirement, he went to work in higher education, earning a Master of Public Administration from Clemson University and is currently working on his third masters in foods and nutrition for the University of Georgia.

Through his years in law enforcement and higher education, Danny learned the value in self-leadership, and the growth that emerges when continuously striving for more.

About Dr. Danny McGuire:

Dr. Danny McGuire served over 20 years in law enforcement transitioning to higher education after he suffered a career ending injury. Danny began service in 1992 with the cook county sheriffs department in a federally funded narcotics tasks force where he worked in an undercover capacity.

In 1996 he became a Chicago Police Officer where he served in patrol, special operations, HBT (Hostage Barricade Terrorist Team – now known as SWAT). He was promoted to Sergeant and served in patrol and on the SWAT as team leader of the weapons of mass destruction safety and support team and later chief crisis/hostage negotiator.

While serving Dr. McGuire earned his Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Management, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and Doctorate of Education emphasis Ethical Leadership. After his injury and subsequent retirement, he went to work in higher education and earned a Master of Public Administration from Clemson University and is working on his third masters in foods and nutrition for the University of Georgia.

Danny now serves as department Chair for Public Safety Programs at Calumet College of St. Joseph.
