One of my favorite images is of a man standing on a stage in front of hundreds of people juggling ceramic plates. Behind the curtain, however, you can see all of the broken plates it took for him to master his skill.

Objects in motion stay in motion. While this is a fact of physics, it is also a fact of productivity. When I’m feeling like my motivation is waning or my productivity is suffering, I remind myself that I just need to get started.

I recently worked with a client who mentioned they struggle with the idea of quality vs. quantity. In this client’s world, it was the amount of time spent on their goals that mattered most. That’s even if they were able to produce quality output in a shorter period of time, they were still frustrated with the lack of time they spent working on their goals.
