At the end of any given day or week, it’s easy to add up all of the mistakes we made or the things that didn’t quite go our way. What we tend to ignore are the successes; the things we did accomplish and the internal strengths we leveraged to make these things happen. Research into gratitude interventions shows that beyond identifying what we are grateful for, it’s identifying what made the thing we are grateful for possible that helps us deepen our feelings of gratitude. The same can be said for self-acknowledgement. When you need a pick-me-up, identify something that went well and what internal resources you used to make that possible.
What do you most want to acknowledge about yourself?
