I grew up watching my mom live two very different lives. One one hand, she was a creature of comfort. We often had the same meals for family dinners, she wore similar outfits daily, and she was much more of an introvert than an extrovert. On the other hand, my mom is one of the most creative people I know. She’s a talented jeweler who worked tirelessly to start her own business and open her own business. When it comes to a comfort zone in her work, she doesn’t have one. She’s well-known for taking old scrap jewelry and turning it into something incredible, and she has also created her own line of jewelry that she can barely keep in stock. As I grew up watching her, I realized that when we are truly in our element, doing something that fills us with meaning and passion, there is little that can hold us back, even our own comfort zones. To this day, she still wears similar clothing and eats similar meals, but her artwork continues to evolve and grow, and her business with it.
How will you challenge your comfort zone this week?
