We often forget the impact that external events can have on our mental health. Depressing news stories and second-hand bad news can take more of a toll on our stress levels than we might initially think. This stress can be compounded by any challenges we may be facing in our lives, such as medical concerns or job transitions. Then, all of this is layered with the immediate stressors of our everyday life, like keeping the house clean or deciding what to eat for dinner. Often, we don’t think about how these things impact our lives, and instead focus on all the things we should be doing despite our struggling mental health. Sometimes, our brains need a break.
