When I’m feeling depleted, frustrated, or uncertain, it’s common for me to seek external resources to remedy these emotions. Caffeine for energy, a good song to ease my frustration, or the advice of a friend to gain clarity. But it’s important that we don’t forget about our internal resources, most importantly, our strengths. My top strength is humor and playfulness, and I can leverage this in just about any scenario. For example, I can leverage this when I’m depleted by watching a funny video to recharge my batteries. I can leverage this when I’m frustrated by taking a break to play with my dog or cats. I can leverage this when I’m uncertain by making a game out of a decision-making process. In any of these scenarios, I know if I play to my strengths, I’ll come out on the other side feeling much better.
What strength do you need to leverage in yourself this week?
