Bravery Only Exists When Fear is Present

Bravery Only Exists When Fear is Present

The Powerful Paragraph

In one of the Game of Thrones books, Bran (a young man) asks his father, “Can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?” His father replies, “That is the only time a man can be brave.” I love this quote because it demonstrates that bravery is not the absence of fear. Instead, it means doing something despite the fear or in the face of the fear. For me, being brave means knowing that I am going to face something that will probably scare me or push me past my comfort zone, but I’m going to do it anyway. Whether that be standing up for someone when no one else will or submitting a piece of writing to a writing contest, I’m going to face the fear, push past my limiting beliefs, and keep moving forward.
